The Ukrainian state-owned gas company Naftogaz reported that its facilities in central Ukraine were struck three times during an overnight Russian missile barrage. The assault targeted critical infrastructure in the capital and surrounding areas, causing disruptions to water, heat, and electricity supplies. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that traffic remains suspended in both directions on the Pivnichnyi Bridge following strikes that damaged the roadway and power cables.
The operation involved 172 drones and 36 ballistic missiles, primarily targeting the Trypillya thermal power plant and several electrical substations, including those linking the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne nuclear power plants to central Ukraine. While Ukrainian air defenses shot down 149 drones and four missiles, the strikes injured nine people, including a child. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy linked the escalation to Russian preparations for upcoming trilateral talks with Ukraine and the U.S., and used the event to call for increased bilateral support from Washington.
