President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Iskander missiles with cluster munitions targeted the Pechersk historic center, hitting monastery buildings, shops and cafes within a 400 meter blast zone. The attack killed two and injured 34 people nationwide, occurring as Russia hit energy infrastructure more than 170 times since October 11. These strikes took place shortly after US envoy Steve Witkoff met with President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, a meeting that failed to produce a breakthrough in ending the war despite previous Russian signals of readiness for peace talks.
