The escalation follows raids on Thursday that forced the closure of Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky airports for nearly seven hours after the activation of "Carpet" emergency protocols. Those attacks caused over 370 flight delays and more than 100 cancellations, diverting the aircraft carrying President Vladimir Putin to Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg upon his return from Turkmenistan. The targets included MVSh balloons, which the Russian military identifies as Ukrainian reconnaissance and strike tools.
