The terminal is a key fuel supplier for Russia's Southern Military District and handles 2.5 million to 3.5 million tonnes of petroleum products annually, with a total facility capacity exceeding 210,000 m³. This facility had previously been hit in July. In the original Oct. 10 strike wave, drones also damaged the lifting mechanism of the Rostov-Bataysk railway drawbridge, suspending rail traffic and delaying 25 passenger trains before service resumed on Oct. 11.
