Fresh missile strikes hit warehouses in the eastern part of Ukraine’s capital on Oct 29, prompting the deployment of fire services to the Darnitsky district. The mayor of Kyiv confirmed that the ballistic missile attack sparked a fire at the storage facilities, with emergency crews arriving on the scene to manage the blaze and assess the damage.
The attack follows a period of intensified Russian strikes on Kyiv, including an Oct 26 wave involving 16 ballistic missiles and more than 280 drones that damaged the city’s South Bridge and a university campus. President Volodymyr Zelensky has linked the success of these strikes to prolonged delays in the delivery of interceptor missiles for Patriot and NASAMS air-defense systems, claiming that such gaps in supply directly facilitate Russia’s campaign against Ukrainian urban and logistics infrastructure.
