Air traffic has returned to the primary airfield in southern Yemen following a suspension caused by projectile strikes on Oct 28. The Houthis targeted Aden International Airport with 2 ballistic missiles that damaged the runway and caused civilian injuries, according to the Saudi-backed Yemeni government, which noted this was the 6th time the facility had been attacked.
Before the strike, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree ordered an immediate evacuation of the airport, claiming a Saudi military cargo aircraft was delivering weapons to the city. Although government officials denied that any Saudi planes had landed, video of the attack showed a C-130 cargo aircraft on the tarmac. The Houthis, who control the capital of Sanaa, have repeatedly targeted the airport in Aden, where the internationally recognized government is based.
