The death toll from Saturday’s attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport rose to at least 13 after an Indian national died of injuries, India’s embassy in Saudi Arabia confirmed. Saudi aviation authorities initially reported 12 deaths and 309 injuries, with some of the wounded in critical condition.
The airport’s closure was extended by another 24 hours to 21:00 UTC on Monday, October 12, Flightradar24 reported, citing an aviation notice. Al Arabiya released CCTV footage showing the moment of the strike on Terminal 3.
The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack in a televised speech on Sunday. A Gulf official and a US official briefed on the attack told the New York Times that a cruise missile struck the passenger terminal. The Saudi-led coalition has vowed a decisive response.
