The Houthis renewed their warning to international airlines and travelers to avoid Saudi airports and airspace, excluding Mecca and Medina. Riyadh airport remained closed after weekend attacks killed 14 people and injured hundreds, including a Pakistani resident killed and 11 people wounded on Sunday. Dammam’s King Fahd International Airport also came under attack Sunday. Flightradar24 reported Sunday evening that Riyadh and Dammam were closed, while Jeddah had 156 flights canceled, or 20%, and 374 delayed, or 49%.
The disruption also affected the WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh. The chief executives of ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, Shell, Chevron and BP were removed from the event schedule after the attacks, Reuters reported. BP said travel disruption prevented it from attending in person. Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman opened the congress Monday, saying: “The word fear doesn't exist in the Saudi dictionary.”
