The US has supplied Saudi Arabia with more than 200 Houthi targets, Axios reported. Yemeni government forces launched the counteroffensive Sunday with Saudi air support to retake Houthi-held territory nationwide. Preparations could involve mobilizing more than 100,000 Yemeni troops, Reuters reported, with options including a coastal assault to recover the Bab el-Mandeb shipping route or attacks across several fronts.
More than 70 people were killed in fighting in Taiz province over 24 hours, sources told AFP, as Houthi forces cut the route between Taiz and Aden. Sky News Arabia and the Sanaa-based Saba news agency reported that the Houthis also took Al-Turbah, a strategic crossroads south of Taiz. Thousands of civilians are fleeing the intensified fighting and seeking shelter in makeshift camps between Taiz and Aden, Al Jazeera reported.
