Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said the group attacked King Khalid with two cruise missiles Thursday evening, as well as Najran airport and the Khamis Mushait airbase with ballistic missiles. New footage appeared to show damage to several Saudia aircraft at Riyadh airport. Reuters earlier reported smoke rising from a parked aircraft believed to be empty. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted two Houthi ballistic missiles heading toward Riyadh and another toward Khamis Mushait; Saudi Civil Defense said falling debris damaged a kindergarten and medical clinics in the capital.
Attacks on King Khalid and Abha airports on October 6 and 7 killed three people and injured 36, Saudi aviation authorities said. The coalition said it retaliated by destroying 82 Houthi military targets across four Yemeni provinces. Lufthansa suspended Riyadh flights through October 16, and Air India temporarily halted service to the city.
