President Donald Trump said he would speak with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. “And what happened in Saudi Arabia is not acceptable,” Trump said. He had earlier said the US may join Saudi strikes against the Houthis, before Saudi authorities announced the casualty toll. The Saudi-led coalition vowed a decisive response and called the terminal attack a “full-fledged war crime.”
UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney condemned the attack, the third on the airport this week. “Attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are a violation of international law,” Guterres said, calling for an immediate halt. Earlier attacks on the Riyadh airport killed four people and damaged a Saudia aircraft.
