Aviation services in the Saudi capital were disrupted on Sunday, with flights from the city’s main airport seeing a cancellation rate of 86%. The interruptions extended throughout the kingdom, where 45% of all flights were canceled following a wave of ballistic missile strikes by Yemen’s Houthis on King Khalid International Airport and other strategic military sites.
The Iran-backed Houthis also claimed to have targeted the King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait and a naval base in Jazan using dozens of missiles. In response, the Saudi-led coalition conducted airstrikes in Sanaa that destroyed two ballistic missile launchers, including one used to target Riyadh. Houthi military media further reported the use of Rajoum drones to attack Saudi forces along the Najran, Jizan and Asir border fronts.
