Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre initiated a 90-minute phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to relay Kyiv’s positions ahead of November peace talks in Abu Dhabi, while US President Donald Trump said a meeting involving Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would be arranged “very soon.” During the conversation, which was originally scheduled for 20 minutes, the Kremlin said Putin offered Zelensky security guarantees to visit Moscow after the two Nordic leaders told him Zelensky wanted direct talks, and agreed to maintain direct telephone contact with Finland and Norway.
