President Isaac Herzog concluded consultations with political parties and will name the Knesset member tasked with forming Israel’s next government on Nov 8. Former IDF chief Gadi Eisenkot received recommendations from 67 members of the Knesset to lead the administration, while incumbent Benjamin Netanyahu received backing from 46 members and the United Torah Judaism party abstained with 7 votes. Herzog said it remains uncertain who can establish a functional government given the mutual vetoes between the political blocs.
