An updated Channel 12 exit poll puts Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s governing bloc ahead with 52 to 53 seats against 49 to 50 for challenger Gadi Eisenkot’s opposition alliance, reversing an earlier 52 to 50 lead for Eisenkot after Kan 11 and Channel 13 revised their projections to a 51 to 51 tie. The updated Channel 12 survey also raises Arab led parties from 18 to 19 seats, up from 10 in 2022 and above their previous high of 15 in March 2020, leaving both major blocs short of the 61 seats needed for a majority in the 120 seat Knesset.
In a post election address, Eisenkot urged Netanyahu to retire from political life, called another election a mistake, and warned him “do not dare use Israel’s security for your political needs.” Calling Netanyahu “a transitional prime minister, without a mandate and without trust,” Eisenkot told the heads of Israel’s defense establishment and public service to “stand strong and steadfast” and promised them his backing.
