The final balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives remains undecided as officials continue counting ballots from the latest midterm elections. Current tallies reported by VoteHub show the Democratic party has won 238 seats, while Republicans have secured 145, with 68 races remaining uncalled.
The Democratic party could reach a total of 257 seats if they win about 30 of the remaining contests, according to the Cook Political Report, which would match the party’s numbers during the 2008 election. Other estimates from Punchbowl News suggest the total could rise to 260 seats, the party’s largest majority in the lower chamber since 1990.
