Leaders of Israel’s opposition bloc agreed at a meeting in Herzliya to recommend Yashar party chief Gadi Eisenkot to President Isaac Herzog to form a national emergency government and launch immediate coalition talks to unseat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Eisenkot, Naftali Bennett, Avigdor Liberman, Yair Golan and Yair Lapid, whose parties hold 48 seats in the 120 member Knesset, also plan to use the incoming parliament to replace Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana and repeal judicial overhaul legislation while seeking to avert a seventh national election since 2019.
