Former Democratic Governor Roy Cooper won North Carolina’s open US Senate seat by 19.6 percentage points over former Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley, a 22.8 point swing from President Donald Trump’s 2024 victory in the state, Decision Desk HQ reported. Down the ballot, Republicans lost their supermajority in the North Carolina state Senate, and Democrats were leading in enough races to flip the state House 71-48.
