Government-aligned forces were already at Dhubab Airport, 54 km from Mocha, the institute said. Local media published unverified footage purportedly showing government forces entering Mocha and Houthi fighters withdrawing from positions north and east of the city. Government forces said they had recaptured the Red Sea port, but the Houthis denied losing the coast and the full extent of the gains remained unverified.
The institute’s assessment of further possible advances follows its forecast that government forces would likely pause within seven to 14 days to rest, resupply and consolidate their positions. It said the forces would need a defensible line to withstand Houthi counterattacks combining drones and ground troops.
