The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has cut roughly 90% of Iraqi oil exports via the Gulf and cost the government $60B in revenue since the US-Israel war on Iran began. Iraq recently imported gasoline from Houston and 32,800 metric tons facilitated by Qatar's UCC Holding through the port of Baniyas. Baghdad intends to maintain these Syrian transit routes as permanent alternatives even if maritime traffic in the Gulf normalizes.
