Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky cautioned that a new European-Russian security infrastructure proposed by the U.S. could be “dangerous” for Ukraine and its allies in the European Union. Zelenskyy said that the priority for diplomatic efforts should be determining how to end the war before negotiating a new security framework, stating that the American side’s proposed approach is not a simple matter for Kyiv to accept.
The warnings follow talks in Brussels where U.S. envoy Jared Kushner met with representatives from Ukraine, NATO, and European partners to discuss security guarantees and a broader architecture for regional stability. These discussions are intended to prepare for trilateral peace talks between the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on Nov 10 and 11.
