The leader of the Senate Democrats said the chamber will no longer simply go along with the administration’s agenda, threatening to use court actions and legislative inquiries to check the president’s power. Following a Tuesday election that gave his party control of both houses of Congress, Chuck Schumer stated that the era of a “supplicant Senate” is over and that Democrats will launch probes whenever Donald Trump defies the law or public will.
Schumer also called for an end to the conflict with Iran, claiming the U.S. has been fighting based on Trump’s “erratic judgment.” He argued that the war must conclude because many American citizens remain unclear on the reasons for the military engagement.
