A vessel traveling through a restricted zone east of the Strait of Hormuz was disabled by a naval mine on Thursday morning, the Iranian Navy said. The oil tanker caught fire and was brought to a halt after it entered what Tehran describes as a forbidden and unsafe area. This follows an earlier report by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy that three other tankers hit mines on an unauthorized southern route over a 24 hour period, resulting in the ships being abandoned.
