The aviation disruption has prompted Lufthansa to suspend Riyadh flights through October 16 and Air India to cancel service through October 10. Pakistan International Airlines suspended Riyadh flights on Friday. US government employees in Saudi Arabia now need special authorization to use King Khalid International Airport, and Britain has advised against all but essential travel to Riyadh and other parts of the kingdom.
Two attacks on King Khalid airport on Thursday killed three Saudi citizens and injured several others, Saudi aviation authorities said, following attacks on Riyadh and Abha airports earlier in the week that killed three people and wounded 36. Saudia confirmed that an employee was killed and a parked aircraft was damaged, with no passengers aboard. Although authorities said operations had resumed, Flightradar24 reported another closure Friday, with 124 flights canceled by midday. The Houthis said humanitarian flights to and from Riyadh would be permitted only with clearance from their coordination center in Sanaa.
