Russian forces suffered a net loss of 241 square kilometers in Ukraine since Sept 1 as Ukraine’s Operation Vivaldi counteroffensive near Lyman and other counterattacks virtually halted Russian advances across the front, the Institute for the Study of War reported. 3rd Army Corps Commander Andriy Biletskyi said the Lyman campaign degraded Russia’s 144th Motorized Rifle Division so severely that it ceased to exist as an organized military force, while open-source analyst AMK Mapping reported that Ukrainian troops have continued pushing across the Zherebets River onto its eastern bank at multiple points and begun a new battle for Terny despite earlier announcements that the operation had concluded.
