Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing bloc slipped to 56 projected seats in the 120-member Knesset with 66.36% of votes counted in Israel’s election, leaving it five short of a governing majority as returns from opposition and Arab strongholds narrowed its earlier 59-seat lead. With 3.41 million ballots tallied across 7,961 polling stations, former military chief Gadi Eisenkot’s opposition bloc rose to 48 seats and Arab-led parties held 16. Earlier partial returns at the halfway mark showed Netanyahu’s Likud leading individual parties with 27 seats and 20.7% of the vote, followed by Eisenkot’s Yashar at 21 seats, the Arab-led Joint List at 12, Naftali Bennett’s Together alliance at 11, and the Democrats and United Torah Judaism at nine each.
