Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens formally endorsed Republican nominee Mike Rogers for US Senate in Michigan on Sunday, two days before the election, prompting her longtime chief of staff and other congressional aides to resign. Announcing the decision after appearing alongside Rogers at Perfecting Church in Detroit, Stevens said she remains a “very proud Democrat” but noted that Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed “said I am no longer welcome in his campaign and I should stay away,” adding, “I do not belong in Abdul’s campaign, and I do not stand with Hasan Piker.”
