President Donald Trump said the US will look “very closely” into intelligence concerns surrounding Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s ties to a suspected Chinese operative, adding that he was not aware of the specifics when asked on Saturday. “We hope everything’s okay with Jensen,” Trump said, calling the chief executive a “brilliant person” and noting that “when it comes to chips, there’s never been anybody like him.”
When asked whether he retains confidence in Huang as a US technology policy adviser, Trump said, “I would like to say yes. I mean, unless we find out something to the contrary,” while adding that he has always found Huang “to be very above board.” The remarks follow a New York Times report that US intelligence agencies concluded former Megaspeed executive Alice Huang was a Chinese asset passing information to Beijing while maintaining a close relationship with the Nvidia chief, and that Trump took no action after being briefed roughly a year ago.
