Fox News updated its ratings for the U.S. House on Oct 27, moving 19 races in the direction of the Democratic party. The network attributed the shift to a slide in support among rural voters, district polling, and the strength of the top-of-the-ticket candidates. This follows a series of similar updates from the Cook Political Report, which on Oct 30 shifted the 9th district of Ohio and the 8th district of Pennsylvania from toss-up to lean Democratic, and moved three seats in Colorado, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina to toss-up status.
The latest nonpartisan projections from the Cook report show Democrats favored in 218 seats, the minimum required to control the chamber. The forecast suggests Democrats could flip between 12 and 22 seats in the November election, which would surpass the gains made by the party during the midterm waves of 2006 and 2018.
