Oil prices climbed in early trading on Friday as traders weighed the impact of new strikes on energy facilities in the Middle East. Brent crude futures rose to $116.56 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate gained to $103.35 a barrel, reflecting heightened supply concerns after Iran-backed Houthis targeted Saudi oil infrastructure.
The Houthi group stated it struck the Ras Tanura and Rabigh refineries and an Aramco site in Abqaiq on Thursday. The current surge puts WTI on track for its first monthly close above $100 since April, with the benchmark heading for a 15% monthly rise and Brent for a gain of nearly 14%.
