Conflict in the Middle East is disrupting regional energy flows, prompting the state gas company of Qatar to diversify its supply sources. QatarEnergy signed a purchase agreement to import 4 million tons per year of liquefied natural gas from two of Cheniere’s US projects, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the early 2030s and continue through 2054.
The long-term pact represents a strategic shift for the Gulf nation to establish LNG capacity and supply chains outside its own borders. This move occurs as war continues to upend traditional energy movements across the Middle East.
