Michigan Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens defended her surprise endorsement of Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers in a CNN interview Sunday night, calling the decision “a weight off my shoulders” while brushing off the resignation of more than half of her congressional staff. Pressed by anchor Anderson Cooper on why she reversed course after telling fellow Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell at midnight Saturday that she would not back Rogers, Stevens said Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed “has been getting angrier and angrier” and cited a “very painful” outside ad blaming U.S. aid to Israel for high grocery prices, as well as El-Sayed campaigning with streamer Hasan Piker.
