Two people familiar with the decision told Politico that the campaign of Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed has requested that Rep. Haley Stevens avoid all remaining campaign appearances before the upcoming election. The move follows a public fallout between the former primary rivals that ended a planned effort to project party unity during a joint event in Detroit this Sunday. The event, which was intended to include Rep. Jim Clyburn and was brokered by Rep. Debbie Dingell and state Democratic chair Curtis Hertel, was scrapped after the two candidates exchanged critical statements.
