The Borisoglebsk base houses Su-34, Su-35, and Su-30SM aircraft, along with stockpiles of guided munitions. While the Navy attributed the strike to Neptune missiles, other reports indicated the use of FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles. Footage of the assault showed at least one massive explosion and subsequent fires spreading across the base's aviation fuel and parking areas.
