U.S. technology shares recovered some ground on Nov 3 as traders returned to the market ahead of the midterm elections. The Nasdaq Composite ended the Tuesday session higher, attempting to stem a volatile start to the week that saw the Nasdaq 100 lose $1 trillion in market capitalization in just five hours on Monday amid concerns that artificial intelligence spending may not yield sufficient revenue growth.
The Nasdaq 100 has fallen 10.4% from its peak on Oct 6, officially triggering a technical correction. This decline was primarily driven by semiconductor stocks, with the SOX index sliding 22% since early October. The index’s 6.1% decline over the last three trading sessions marks its sharpest three-day loss since April 2025, following an October slump that was the index’s worst for the month in eight years.
