Intel’s 27% premarket plunge helped drive a global tech selloff on Friday, dragging Nasdaq futures down more than 2% as investors reassessed heavy AI capital spending across the sector. The chipmaker’s slump, which threatens to erase roughly $130 billion in single-day market value and marks its steepest daily drop since 1974, coincided with a 7.3% premarket slide in Amazon and losses across Nvidia, Meta, Tesla, Apple, and Microsoft. Overseas, Japan’s Nikkei fell 2.12% to wipe out about $160 billion in market value, while South Korea’s Kospi dropped as much as 5%.
