US shares now make up 60% of the financial assets held by foreign investors in the US, a concentration that is about 6 percentage points above the 2000 Dot-Com Bubble peak. These investors purchased $426 billion of American equities in the second quarter of 2026, the largest quarterly inflow ever recorded. Total foreign holdings of US stocks reached $24.32 trillion in July, the third-largest amount in history.
