U.S. technology shares returned to growth on Tuesday as a surge in semiconductor stocks reversed a multi-day decline for key benchmarks. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.83%, bolstered by a 2.6% jump in the Philadelphia semiconductor index and a 2.3% gain for Nvidia, which closed at $206.69. Despite the rebound, the Nasdaq 100 added only 0.7% and remains in a technical correction, trading approximately 10% below its recent peak.
The gain was tempered by a 1.9% drop in Apple, which ended the session at $331.90 after the company provided a disappointing margin forecast and missed expectations for iPad sales. While the S&P 500 rose 0.36% to snap a three-day losing streak, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.38% as investors balanced the AI recovery against corporate earnings reports and the approach of the U.S. midterm elections.
