The Democratic Party secured majorities in both the U.S. House and Senate during Tuesday’s midterm elections, gaining power in several traditionally Republican strongholds. The results included the election of Democratic senators in South Carolina for the first time since 1998 and Kansas since 1932. The party also saw a swing in Latino support in House contests, receiving around 62% of the vote, as President Donald Trump’s approval rating fell to 38%.
