Customers pulled more than $4 billion in assets from Binance after the exchange began reopening withdrawals in phases on Nov 1, Cointelegraph reported, following an Oct 29 hack that drained $6.3 billion from its hot wallets. Binance restored transfers across 15 networks from newly generated wallet addresses on Sunday, starting with Bitcoin at 06:20 UTC before progressively adding Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, XRP, Base, Dogecoin, Optimism, Arbitrum, Tron, Solana, Polygon, Avalanche, Zcash, TON and Sui.
The exchange reopened withdrawals after replenishing 95% of the stolen assets, or $6 billion, using $6.34 billion reserved from its corporate treasury, futures insurance fund and Secure Asset Fund for Users, leaving the remaining 5% in less liquid tokens still being acquired. While users withdrew funds, the attacker continued liquidating unfreezable holdings onchain, moving 486,970 SOL ($46.4 million) to swap a stolen 970,522 SOL ($95.9 million) position into Bitcoin via Relay Protocol and losing nearly $5 million by dumping 908,793 PROM into a nearly empty Uniswap V2 pool for just 0.0316 ETH ($71).
