The Energy Information Administration reported a 2.251 million barrel decrease in US distillate stocks for the week ending Sept. 25, contradicting forecasts for a 0.075 million barrel build. Gasoline inventories also fell by 1.7 million barrels, and total petroleum inventories, including the strategic reserve, declined 7.828 million barrels to 1.528 billion barrels. US diesel futures rose 4.5% following the release of the storage data.
