IODA data showed 78% of Yandex Cloud's network stopped responding to outside connections after the attacks. The cloud platform lost two availability zones, with some database clusters stuck in read-only mode or offline. Frank Luntz also cited Cloudflare data showing bot traffic from Yandex's network had fallen to 0.4% of the maximum HTTP request volume recorded over the previous two weeks.
The attack followed strikes on Sasovo in the Ryazan region on Oct. 8 and Kaluga on Oct. 9, which shut down the former facility and disabled several modules at the latter. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the campaign as a response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian data centers: “We have responded. I cannot disclose all the details.”
