The talks will address Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and Israel's actions in the region. They follow Yemen's Saudi-backed government's announcement of a major offensive against the Houthis.
Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said the members would discuss Iran's suggestion of political engagement with the Houthis as an alternative to military action. “There is no written, solid offer. It is brainstorming between two foreign ministers,” he said. The pact, signed in August, treats an armed attack on one member as an attack on all three; the countries' military chiefs met in Riyadh on September 25 to discuss closer cooperation.
