Customers of online retailer Asos received pop-up messages through the company’s app containing a ransom note addressed to the retailer’s data protection officer and IT team. The message, titled “ASOS HACKED,” claims that attackers fully compromised a Snowflake instance and threatened to leak data unless Asos engaged with them.
Asos has not confirmed a security breach, but shares of the company fell 11% following reports of the messages. The ransom note was pushed directly to customers’ devices via the retailer’s official application.
