House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries said Monday that Michigan Rep. Haley Stevens “made a terrible decision, blindsided everyone and isolated herself from the House Democratic caucus” by endorsing Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers over Democrat Abdul El-Sayed two days before Tuesday’s election. Jeffries told Politico that lawmakers “will have a discussion about appropriate next steps upon our return,” as eight House Democrats including Texas Rep. Marc Veasey and California Rep. Lateefah Simon pushed to expel Stevens from the caucus.
