A part-time employee for the Michigan Senate campaign of Abdul El-Sayed was removed from his position on Nov 2 after a recording of him insulting voters surfaced on social media. The campaign described the individual’s comments about the election as “reprehensible” and stated that the views expressed in the video did not align with the organization’s values.
The dismissal follows a controversy over footage showing the staffer calling Americans “idiots” for questioning El-Sayed’s alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. The candidate has also faced scrutiny following an undercover Townhall video in which Rep. Rashida Tlaib dismissed concerns about El-Sayed’s possession of an Egyptian passport and denied that he is a terrorist.
