President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the war with Iran was worth losing Republican control of the Senate and vowed he would launch the conflict again, telling reporters during an unscheduled White House ballroom tour that it was “largely true” the war cost his party Congress by driving up gasoline prices. “If I had to do it again, I’d have to do it again, because, long-term, it’s the only answer. You can’t let Iran have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said, adding that voters opposed the short-term jump in fuel prices rather than the war itself and that the conflict will end “whenever I want it to.”
