Defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro issued a statement from Miami declaring himself the “true elected president of Brazil” before deleting the post and changing the wording to “leader of Brazil.” In the letter released Wednesday after he arrived at Opa-locka Executive Airport with his wife and two daughters, Bolsonaro alleged electoral fraud in Sunday’s runoff loss to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and vowed to lead the opposition from the US. He thanked US President Donald Trump and Argentine President Javier Milei for welcoming him and said he left Brazil to avoid a “politically motivated witch hunt” after Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered him to surrender his passports within 24 hours.
