The likelihood of a Democratic victory in the Texas Senate contest climbed to a new high on the Kalshi prediction market on Nov 2, as the state approaches the midterm elections. The implied probability of James Talarico winning the seat reached 74%, recovering from a dip to 68% a day earlier. Republican Ken Paxton is the opponent in the race, with his win odds on Kalshi currently placed at 26%.
While prediction markets remain bullish on Talarico, polling shows a more competitive environment, with the VoteHub average placing him ahead by 2.9 percentage points. The race has seen high interest from traders, including nearly $9M in volume on the Polymarket platform. If Talarico wins, he would be the first Democrat to secure a U.S. Senate seat in Texas since 1988.
