Democratic Senate contender James Talarico has gained additional support from members of the prominent Bush family in Texas, breaking the dynasty’s traditional Republican ties. Elon Musk responded to the shift by calling Talarico “pure evil” after Neil Bush, the brother of former President George W. Bush, publicly endorsed the Democratic candidate over Republican Ken Paxton. Writing on Facebook for the first time about his political preferences, Neil Bush stated he was impressed by Talarico’s efforts to seek common ground and stated he voted against a style of politics that has damaged the U.S.
The BBC reports that other members of the Bush clan have also backed Talarico in the Texas race, while some activists are now calling for the renaming of the President George Bush Turnpike. Paxton, who is endorsed by Donald Trump, remains Talarico’s primary opponent for the U.S. Senate seat. Neil Bush continues to reside in Houston in the neighborhood where his father, the late President George H.W. Bush, lived for several decades.
